A letter for the EDGE Community

Dear EDGE Community,

We are reaching out to share some important news. After three years of dedicated service at EDGE, Sofia Arroyo has decided to step down as Executive Director and will transition out of her role on September 2, 2022.

Under Sofia’s leadership, EDGE has grown both in membership and in budget. Our network is in better shape thanks to Sofia’s commitment to building internal systems and processes in support of our staff, our community, and our mission. Our financial health has never been stronger. Thanks to her vision and the work of the entire EDGE team, our programmatic offerings have expanded to include new joint funder and movement spaces such as the Climate Justice Initiative and the soon-to-be-launched Economic Justice Dialogues. Additionally, Sofia developed two projects in partnership with other funder networks: the Funders for Real Change website alongside Ariadne and the Racial Justice Dialogues for Europe with Ariadne and Gender Funder Co-Labs.

We are sad to see Sofia leave, and we celebrate her vision and leadership in building and strengthening our collective work. We are grateful for all her hard work, passion and commitment to EDGE and wish her success in whatever new professional adventures await her.

The EDGE Board has created a Transition Committee, the members of which are listed below, that is working on a plan to care for and support the remaining staff and ensure that the most critical elements of our work continue in this transition. At the same time, we believe this executive transition offers our network an opportunity to pause and reflect on our mission and values, and the ways our organizational structure, staff, and membership can support them. We know this conversation must include our diverse and committed membership, and we are looking forward to working alongside all of you in the coming months to envision EDGE’s future.
