The EDGE Webinar Series with a focus on a topic that’s buzzing throughout the sector “Race and Philanthropy.” This discussion has manifested in many ways but has largely focused on processes such as launching Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. In some cases it has progressed to the point of figuring out how to incorporate racial equity into our staffing structures, operations and eventually, grantmaking. While all of these steps are necessary, we wanted to push ourselves further and ask: How do we take a systemic approach in addressing racial disparities? How can philanthropy and movements work together to create this change?

In this webinar we will explore how whiteness, white supremacy, and colonialism manifest in a global context. A diverse group of funders and movement leaders from the USA, Europe, South America, and the Global South will share their experiences, and we’ll find out how they view the current system of racial inequity and what it takes to get to a different system entirely. This will be an open discussion where we will encourage folks to talk about the challenges and barriers they face along with what their hopes and vision is for the future.
