The International Fund for China’s Environment (IFCE) was established by a group of concerned scientists and professionals in 1996. The mission of the IFCE is to help ensure the protection of the world’s environment and its biological diversity by providing assistance to aid China in resolving its environmental problems. IFCE is a non-profit organization (NGO) with its main office in the Washington metropolitan area, U.S. and a branch office in Beijing, China.

IFCE publishes a quarterly newsletter to introduce China’s environmental problems, conservation practices and IFCE activities. IFCE develops projects primarily in three areas: environmental education, nature conservation and technological and information transfer. In environmental education, IFCE is developing training centers for natural resource and environmental management and helping Chinese universities to develop environmental programs. In nature conservation, IFCE cooperates with the Wildlife Detection Center of the Ministry of Forestry of China and Chinese Wildlife Association to preserve the Siberian tigers and other endangered animals and species. In technological and information transfer, IFCE organizes symposiums and seminars on China’s environmental issues both inside and outside China. IFCE is also cooperating with agencies in China to introduce cutting-edge technologies helping nature reserves management, air and water pollution control and solid wastes and hazardous materials treatment, etc. The IFCE Beijing Office is to coordinate communication with agencies in China and to provide information on China’s key projects, new regulations, scientific and educational activities in environmental fields.
