The primary objectives of the IPR E-group are:
1. To improve understanding of the role of intellectual property rights in encouraging

  • new inventions and creative works
  • the protection the moral rights of inventors and creators
  • economic growth in general
  • foreign direct investment
  • technology transfer

2. To debate the relationship between intellectual property rights and (amongst other things):

  • information technology
  • pharmaceuticals
  • genetic materialgeographical indictors on products
  • the boundaries of the state
