Community-Based Natural Resource Management Network (CBNRM Net) is a global network and a virtual Community of Practice for people that work on Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) and related approaches in various capacities, including as donors, evaluators, practitioners, project managers, and researchers. The 500+ members that work in over 100 countries include individuals, organizations, and NGOs that are located in civil society, public sector, and private sector.
CBNRM Net aims to network among members and between members and the outside, partly through emphasizing knowledge management and partly through use of select ICTs in the service of social networking. CBNRM Net was set up as a World Bank activity in 1998 but has since moved to civil society.
The website is a means to: (1) manage the growing amount of CBNRM-related knowledge, and (2) connect members with each other. The website contains a range of library resources including a Newsletter, case study and report archives; regional, country and topic sortedlistings, and news. It is organized in a number of hierarchically organized Sections, Categories, and Items that are crosslinked. A site search engine is available. Knowledge is to a large extent provided by members and other CBNRM practitioners. Beside the website, a key networking tool is the CBNRM Net Newsletter.
CBNRM Net is supported by CBNRM Networking (www.cbnrm.com), a Norwegian non-profit that supports activities in the area of Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) and related approaches globally.
