The Global Road Safety Facility was launched in November 2005 and is located within the Energy, Transport and Water Department of the World Bank. The Facility is a direct response to the global call for action by the United Nations General Assembly Resolutions 58/289 and 60/5 (Improving global road safety) and World Health Assembly Resolution 57.10 (Road safety and health).
The Facility aims to generate and catalyse increased funding to support initiatives aimed at reducing road deaths and injuries in low and middle-income countries, and is engaged in an active programme of country activities.
