The Institute for Palestinian Studies (IPS) is a private, independent, non-profit Arab research organisation. The Institute is devoted to documentation, research, analysis, and publication on Palestinian affairs and the Arab-Israeli conflict. The institute’s headquarters is in Beirut, and has other offices in Washington, Paris, and London and an affiliate to The Institute of Jerusalem Studies, in East Jerusalem.

IPS activities include:

  • commission original studies and research for publication in English, Arabic and French concerning Palestinian history and heritage, as well as current political events in the area
  • provide support to individuals throughout the world for research projects that promote the understanding of the Arab-Israeli conflict
  • organise and participate in international seminars, conferences and book fairs.

IPS publishes four quarterly journals in English, French and Arabic, which independently edited and published from Washington, Jerusalem, Paris, and Beirut respectively. The IPS-Library in Beirut is specialised in Palestinian affairs, Judaica, and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Its archives contain rare books, original documents, periodicals, private papers, and newspaper collections in Arabic, Hebrew and English.

The IPS website is available in English, French and Arabic and includes details about its activities and publications. Available on the website is the IPS online library catalogue, which allows the user to access bibliographic information on the holdings of the library. Photocopy order facility is also available online.
