TGNP is an NGO that focuses on the practical promotion and application of gender equality and equity objectives, through policy advocacy and mainstreaming of gender perspectives. The organisation offers training and capacity building for people working in development agencies, government institutions and international organisations.

Topics covered in workshops and seminars include:

  • gender policy and HIV/AIDS
  • gender and development
  • gender and microeconomics, policy, planning and budgeting.

The organisation is also involved in information generation and dissemination. It has a resource centre with a gender specialised library, feminist bookshop and database which has information and analysis on gender, democracy and development issues.

TGNP has been pioneering a Gender Budget Initiative (GBI) in collaboration with other NGOs who compose the Feminist Activism Coalition (FemAct). GBI advocates for a more people-centred participatory development strategy with equitable and just allocation of resources. It also promotes the design and adoption of gender-sensitive pro-poor instruments for analysis.

The website contains information about the organisation’s activities and publications. The website also has a glossary of gender concepts.
