The Southern Voices Capacity Building Programme strengthens climate policy networks in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific. The programme was launched in January 2011 through the Climate Capacity Consortium — a group of five Danish and two international NGOs with CARE Denmark as the lead organization – and will continue with current funding through mid-2012.
Southern Voices currently supports eleven national, six regional and three thematic climate networks through the consortium members. The programme aims to increase the capacity of the Southern Voices networks and organisations for carrying out advocacy, policy monitoring activities and raising public awareness.
The programme specifically aims to increase the ability of Southern civil-society networks’ to promote fair and pro-poor positions of their own governments related to climate change policies and sustainable development.
