The Small Arms Survey is an independent research project, funded by 12 governments and located at the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva, Switzerland. It serves as the principal international source of public information on all aspects of small arms, and as a resource center for governments, policy makers, researchers, and activists. The project has an international staff with expertise in security studies, political science, international public policy, law, economics, development studies, conflict resolution, and sociology. One of its key objectives is to work with and support a variety of partner organisations.
The website provides a range of resources for downloading, including the annual reports, occasional papers, draft papers aimed at policy-makers and advocacy communities, and documents about regional and multilateral agreements on small arms. The site also has a UN Small Arms Conference database, incorporating voting statistics and government documents, and documents related to implementation. There are links to a range of partner organisations involved in efforts to monitor and control small arms. Documents can be ordered via the site.
The project also publishes in languages other than English, including Arabic, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
