The SADC-CCD is part of SADCs Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANR) sector which promotes the sustainable and systematic use of communication in the development process. It aims to ensure people’s participation and sense of ownership through communication stategies and different media to identify and implement appropriate development programmes, technologies and policies for the reduction of poverty.

Its activities include:

  • the action programme (AP) for communication skills development: a package of communication advice, hands-on training and technical follow-up integrated into either existing or planned development projects
  • development communication consultantcy service including areas such as strategy development, appropriate media, policy, project formulation, programme design, audio-visual-print production.
  • training development for national institutions at an academic, middle management and field levels
  • Linkages to organisations with development communication expertise
