ISF was established as an independent foundation in 1950. Most of its resaerch focuses on Norway, with an emphaisi on:

  • employment and working conditions
  • Gender and society
  • Civil society in transition
  • Political institutions, voting and public opinion
  • International migration, integration and ethnic relations
