The Human Rights Center at the University of Minnesota focuses on training effective human rights professionals and volunteers, and assists human rights advocates, monitors, students, and educators through five primary programs:

  • Applied Human Rights Research
  • Educational Tools (eg; training manuals)
  • Field and Training Opportunities
  • Human Rights On-line (this service is offered through the Human Rights Resource Center)
  • Learning Communities and Partnerships

This site also leads to the University of Minnesota Human Rights Library and the Human Rights Resource Center. It makes available a large number of its own and others’ resources online including academic documents, training manuals, childrens’ resources and surveys on human rights. It:

  • Creates and distributes human rights education (HRE) resources via electronic and print media
  • trains activists, professionals, and students as human rights educators
  • builds advocacy networks to encourage effective practices in human rights education

There is a comprehensive section on human rights education for teachers and others involved with communicating human rights to children, good links to other organisations and job, internship, conference and fellowship listings.
