The Economic Research Centre (ERC) is a non-profit company established and operated by a group of economists who worked at the Department of Economic Strategy and Reforms of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania in 1990-1991.

The ERC maintains permanent contacts with Lithuanian authorities, regional and national organizations of entrepreneurs, banking community. The ERC co-operates with similar organizations abroad. The ERC has established lasting relations with research institutions and consulting companies of Latvia, Estonia and other countries of the region.

Since 1992 the ERC has operated as a research institution carrying out individual projects, and as a consulting company working for domestic and foreign companies, organizations and authorities. The ERC is one of the founders of the Lithuanian Association of Business Consultants.

A number of projects and studies carried out by the ERC have been commissioned by local, foreign and international institutions such as the Municipality of Vilnius, the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice, the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy, the Lithuanian Economic Development Agency, the Lithuanian Tourism Agency, the EC PHARE Program, USAID, the World Bank, etc. These projects provide analysis of such fields as the financial sector, privatization process, hidden economy, small business development, industrial restructuring, foreign trade and foreign direct investment, tourism development, and regional economic development.
