The Centre for Health Systems Research & Development responds to the policy, information and development needs in the health system of the Free State and of South Africa at large. It aims to:
- provide social scientific research and related skills in the field of health and health care
- generate and disseminate information regarding health and health care
- assist in the development and restructuring of health systems with a view to enhancing effectiveness and efficiency
- train health professionals and community members in health systems research
The main focus areas and activities of the Centre comprise of four main programmes:
- HIV/AIDS/STDs and reproductive health
- District health system development
Health management development - Health information systems, health surveys and environmental scans
Tuberculosis control
The Centre offers consultancy and academic services in these areas.
