The CamFed Programme works with rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa to improve educational opportunities for girls.
On completion of their schooling, young women have opportunities to progress to vocational training or higher education,or to start a small business with the support of a micro credit scheme. Eleven have broken through the ceiling by gaining places at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare, raising the low aspirations of younger rural girls.
The CamFed Programme is divided into four main areas:
- primary education
- secondary education
- securing livelihoods
- leading change
