As part of a joint initiative with the Mauritius Research Council, the university hosts the Centre for Applied Social Research (CASR), which was set up to undertake research in, and analysis of, socio-economic challenges in Mauritius. CASR is responsible for developing the Mauritius Social Attitudes Survey which provides barometric measures of socio-demographic and economic variables.
The university’s Consultancy and Contract Research Centre is responsible for coordinating research projects between the university and industry, government and other stakeholders. The centre has a database of research projects and a journal which can be accessed freely online.
The university also has a Centre for Distance Education offering a variety of subjects including macroeconomics, sociology and methodologies of social research.
