The TEST Network includes universities and research institutions from five sub-Saharan African countries (South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe). It aims to support these countries in formulating and implementing sustainable transport policies which contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable economic development.
The network hopes to strengthen networking in sub-Saharan African partner countries, and contribute to building and enhancing scientific and technological capacity to support research, development, innovation and knowledge sharing in the area of traffic congestion, air pollution and road safety. Focus is on science-led sustainable development of transport that is rooted in African scholarship and global knowledge.
The European-African partnership is funded by the European Commission’s ‘African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) Science and Technology Programme’. Other key partners inlude the European Institute for Sustainable Transport (EURIST), Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and the University of York, UK.
