Program to mitigate the social impact of the economic crisis in Thailand, funded by the Asian Development BanK (ADB). Covers significant policy reforms designed both to address the short-term effects of the crisis as well as strengthen the longer-term institutional framework for the social sector, three technical assistance projects were attached to the SSPL in order to support the efforts at reform. The objectives of the Social Sector Program Loan are as follows:
- to mitigate the short-term adverse impact of the current crisis on society
- to help initiate structural reforms to enhance the competitiveness of the Thai economy through the development of human resources
- and to reduce inefficiencies in the provision of social services
WWW site aims to disseminate information on the SSPL project initiatives to all interested parties. It will also support and promote coordination between the activities of the three technical assistance projects and initiatives of all other agencies involved in addressing the social impacts of the crisis – the World Bank, the United Nations, other multilaterals, bilaterals, Thai government agencies, NGOs, civil community groups, interested individuals, and other parties.
