The Research Into Use (RIU) programme aims to improve access to knowledge and technology for poor people whose livelihoods depend on natural resources. The programme is funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), the government department that manages Britain’s aid to developing countries, and has two aims:
- to maximize the poverty-reducing impact of previous research on natural resources, particularly that funded by the UK ’s Department for International Development (DFID) and, in so doing
- to increase understanding of how the promotion and widespread use of research outputs can contribute to poverty reduction and economic growth.
