This conference aimed to provide a platform for the dissemination of country specific experiences on poverty measurement and monitoring practices in Asia. In keeping with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Poverty Reduction Strategies (PRS) Asian countries (and other developing nations) are striving to improve their poverty monitoring and evaluation methodologies and streamline poverty reduction strategies, policies and programmes.
The conference was organised by The Asian Development Bank, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Agency for Technical Co-operation (GTZ) together with the Centre for Poverty Analysis (CEPA), Sri Lanka and was held in March 2004.
