Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) mobilizes health professions and enlists support from the general public to protect and promote the human rights of all people. The organisation:
- believes that human rights are essential for the health and wellbeing of all members of the human family
- uses medical and scientific methods, to investigate and expose violations of human rights worldwide and works to stop them
- supports institutions to hold perpetrators of human rights abuses (including health professionals), accountable for their actions
- educates health professionals and medical, public health, and nursing students and organizes them to become active in supporting a movement for human rights and creating a culture of human rights in the medical and scientific professions
The web site provides country reports, publications, campaigns, educational materials and news archives on a series of issues ranging from land mines, torture, refugees, juvenile justice, blood diamonds, HIV/AIDS and war crimes
