The Centre’s mission is to facilitate and conduct advanced research into all aspects of Intellectual Property, particularly the proper role of intellectual property in the light of the new technologies. The Centre’s present and future projects include the conduct of long-term interdisciplinary research aimed at involving researchers drawn from not only the law faculty but also those of economics and management.

The general aims of the Centre are to:

  • provide a focus within Oxford University for multidisciplinary research and instruction in all aspects of Intellectual Property
  • consider the appropriate structure of IP in the new millennium
  • promote a greater understanding of IP issues within the University and the wider national and international communities
  • play a leading role in a network of international IP research centres, including centres in the UK, Europe, North America, and the Far East
  • establish links with IP practitioners in order to carry out research projects that address current major IP issues
