Part of the University of Nambibia, the Northern Campus was set up to address challenges of access to higher education, foster economic development and encourage community participation in the region.
As well as undertaking more traditional university teaching, the Northern Campus develops and implements programmes aimed at educating and developing community members and undertakes research that enhances understanding of key socio- economic issues in the region.
Educational programmes reflect clear responses to local and
national needs and trends in the environment in terms of programme content, learning methods,
flexibility and new programme development. The Campus attempst to build on indigenous wisdom and knowledge that in the
communities it serves while maintaining its commitment to create and diffuse new knowledge.
