The Netherlands Institute of International Relations ‘Clingendael’ aims to promote the understanding of international affairs. Special attention is devoted to NATO, the European Community, the United Nations and other international organizations.
The organisation serves to provide information, undertake research and publicationand organises courses and training programmes. It acts in an advisory capacity to the government, parliament and social organizations, organizes conferences and meetings, maintains a library and documentation centre, and publishes a monthly journal.
The Clingendael ‘Conflict Research Unit’ (CRU) is part of Clingendael’s research department and focuses on the study of intrastate conflict and conflict management, especially in the developing world.
