The Nepal Armed Violence Reduction Working Group (NAVRWG) is a network of 40 Nepal-based organizations which aims to prevent and reduce the negative humanitarian and socio-economic impacts of armed violence in Nepal. Established in July 2010, the NAVRWG includes representatives from Nepalese government ministries, civil society organizations and the UN in Nepal.
The working group’s objectives are to:
- support the development of a national strategy against Armed Violence (AV)
- advocate for establishing a national commission on Armed Violence Reduction
- co-ordinate and collaborate with national commissions, in particular, the Women’s Commission and the National Human Rights Commission
- campaign, advocate and raise awareness on AV issues in Nepal
- share data and research on AV
- create and support a network of stakeholders working on the issue of AV.
