The National Center for Economic Research (NCER) is an academic and policy research institute at Tsinghua University that conducts research on economic and strategic issues facing the Asia-Pacific rim as a whole, with particular emphasis on the Chinese economy.
NCER’s current research areas include: economic growth, macroeconomics, international economics (including China’s integration into the world economy, China’s accession into the World Trade Organization), economics of transition (restructuring China’s state-owned enterprises and the development of the private sector), labor economics, public finance, human resources, environmental and population economics.
In addition to its permanent research staff, NCER has a network of researchers based throughout China and abroad, who collaborate through the Center in research, training programs, consulting, and other related activities.
NCER publishes its research output through its working paper series, an in-house edited academic journal, monographs, books, and conference proceedings as well as a quarterly newsletter. The list of papers and abstracts for conferences and seminars are available on the website, mostly in Chinese. The Chinese version of ‘Research Express’ and selected NCER working papers can also be downloaded from the website.
The website, which is in both English and Chinese also includes details about NCER, its mission, research activities and staff.
