The Lebanese Non-Governmental Organization Forum coordinates the activities of Lebanese NGOs and is concerned primarily with social, health, and educational development issues.
LNF undertakes the following programs:
- the Rights Program, formerly known as the ‘Migration Unit Project’, which provides services and information on vulnerable social groups, including the displaced, refugees, migrant workers, stateless and undocumented persons and, especially, women and children
- the Studies and Research Program to promote and publish research on its activities as well as on those of NGOs in general
- the Institutional Development Training Program, to improve the performances of different Lebanese NGOs and allow them to develop their human resources
- the Emergency and Relief Program , designed to respond to the ongoing violence in southern Lebanon; efforts are primarily concentrated on providing relief aid to victims of the fighting and resettling those forced to evacuate their villages
- the Social Legislation and National Causes Program focusing on defending and advocating social causes affecting Lebanese civil society, in particular vulnerable groups
- the Lebanese Parliamentary Center Program, to bridge the gap between parliament and civil society by providing a forum for dialogue and exchange between elected representatives, representatives of civil society, and government officials
The Forum also organises conferences and seminars to encourage exchanges of information between experts, especially staff members of Lebanese NGOs, state institutions, and UN bodies.
The NGO Forum regularly produces studies and manuals. It publishes a quarterly newsletter entitled Ebb and Flow, which contains articles, interviews, and book reviews on issues related to the displaced, refugees, migrant workers, and stateless and undocumented persons. Website includes three monitors on women’s rights, children’s rights, prisoner’s rights, and an online space for a Migration Network.
