The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology undertakes teaching, research and training in science and technology for development, with a particular focus on development of Ghana and Africa.
The University is divided into:

- Faculty of social sciences
- Institute of Renewable Natural Resources
- Institute of Land Management and Development
- College of Art
In addition, the University has a School of Postgraduate Studies. The University also includes several centres for research, including:

- Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine

- Institute of Technical Education (ITE)
