The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation is a Swedish-based organisation which works to support women in regions affected by war and armed conflicts. It is active in the Balkans, the Middle East and the Caucasus. The organisation seeks to support the building of sustainable peace through cooperating with local women’s organisations that work without consideration of ethnic, national or religious boundaries. Kvinna till Kvinna provides financial support, assistance and advice in the development of these organisations and the projects which they generate themselves. It supports organisations working with women in a range of areas, including:
- building democracy and civil society
- gender equality analysis
- legal services
- trauma therapy
- training
- women’s health.
The organisation also works to influence policy and practice of donor countries and international bodies such as the ICC to support gender mainstreaming and gender equality.
The website provides a variety of resources, including detailed pages on each of the countries supported by Kvinna till Kvinna, links to partner organisations, and reports on issues relevant to the organisation’s work, many with guidelines and practical advice developed through the organisation’s experiences of working with women in conflict-affected areas.
The website is also available in Swedish.
