The overall mission of the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA) is to endorse and promote indigenous peoples’ right to self-determination, their cultural integrity and their right to development on their own conditions. IWGIA works within a wide range of areas: documentation and publication, human rights, lobbying and advocacy, research and projects.
Publication and the dissemination of information are core activities of IWGIA. The website (available in English, Spanish and French) hosts a publication library of it’ quarterly journal ‘Indigenous Affairs’ and other documents. It also provides backgrounds on several key issues in relation to indigenous peoples (such as the right of self-determination. Selected country profiles are also available.
