The International Forum for Rural Transport and Development (IFRTD) is a global network of individuals and organisations interested in rural transport issues in developing countries. Specifically, the network focuses on improved accessibility and mobility for rural communities in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, particularly those that are poor.
The network identifies priority issues for change, and pursues a programme of advocacy work to influence donors, policy makers and practitioners. Members of the IFRTD include representatives from governments, academia, multilateral and bilateral donor agencies, consultancies, technical institutions, national and international NGOs and community organisations.
The website highlights some of the rural transport and development issues that are being discussed and highlighted within the IFRTD network including cross-border trade, health, mobility, community participation, education and gender.
