The Institute of Strategic Studies is an autonomous, non-profit research organization devoted to the analyses of strategic issues affecting international peace and security. The Institute conducts regular seminars, conferences and public talks and publishes papers on regional and international security issues, with particular focus on Pakistan’s security concerns.

The Institute publishes:

  • a quarterly journal called ‘Strategic Studies’
  • a periodic monograph called ‘Islamabad papers’
  • situational papers providing brief analytical reviews of current issues and concerns
  • fortnightly updates or ‘Area Briefs’ on events covering South Asia, Asia Pacific, Afghanistan, the Russian federation, the Middle East, Persian Gulf and the United States
