The Institute of health policy and economics (IZPE), contributes to cognition and quality improvement of the general health and health care in the Czech Republic, and supports the creation of health policies on the central, regional and local level.

The Czech Ministry of Health established the institute with the aim of:

  • developing an institutionalised workplace for research in the field of health policy and economics
  • advanceing the technical and informational infrastructure necessary
  • training new researchers and scientists
  • fostering application of quantitative and qualitative research methods and transmission of new applied knowledge to all relevant groups active in creation and enactment of health policies (education, translation of basic works, and popularization among the public).

The motivation for establishing IZPE has been to change the current style of decision-making based to a great extent on interests and perceptions to the style of evidence-based health policies. The website contains information on research, publications, staff and more.
