The aim of the Health Systems Action Network (HSAN) is to stimulate informed and coordinated action by key partners, and to assist in the creation of expanded, comprehensive, and high-impact health systems strengthening activities in developing countries. In particular, HSAN focuses on aligning disease specific initiatives (such as STOP TB, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, the Global Alliance for Vaccines, Roll Back Malaria etc) with health systems strengthening efforts.

HSAN pursues its mission through activities in the following four areas:

  • Partnerships – Encouraging participation and engagement by a broad range of stakeholders, particularly non-traditional stakeholders, in shaping action for health systems strengthening
  • Informed Advocacy – Launching coordinated, informed, advocacy campaigns to accelerate action
  • Information Sharing – Sharing information on critical elements of health systems harmonisation and best practices in health systems strengthening
  • Support for Countries – Supporting country and regional partners in promoting stronger and more appropriate responses to health system strengthening needs, by listening, channelling, and responding to needs and perspectives expressed concerning health systems strengthening
