The Geneva Humanitarian Forum seeks to provide a platform for creative thinking, interaction, and the exchange of ideas on issues and challenges facing the humanitarian community. Website acts as a portal for a network of experts and interested policy makers to share information and analyses as well as engage in focused policy dialogue with selected colleagues. It includes:

  • a map of the Humanitarian Community in Geneva, consisting of a complete list of all the actors dealing with humanitarian affairs (i.e. international organisations, NGOs, universities and specialists) and useful information on their specific mandates and activities
  • an agenda that informs about upcoming humanitarian affairs events taking place in Geneva, proposes a list of useful links to existing online agendas, provides a space where users can advertise an event
  • information on academic entities, publications, courses, ongoing research and projects related to humanitarian affairs
  • a wide-ranging directory of links to relevant world-wide organisations, databases, and other online sources
  • interactive areas where users can discuss issues, request and share information, links, analyses (e-conference), etc.

Users can access the portal through a free registration. They will have unlimited use of the database and, subject to resources, can request additional information and documents from the GHF team.

The Geneva Humanitarian Forum was established in 2003 by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), together with the Geneva International Academic Network (GIAN), the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD), the Geneva Foundation for the Protection of Health in War, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, ECOGIA (the training centre of the ICRC), and with the active support of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (Political Division IV) and the Canton of Geneva.
