Central research institution in Slovenia for research in education. The institute undertakes, as a public service, projects on issues of current interest in all sectors of education and related areas. International projects have included: Education for Citizenship (Council of Europe).
ERI carries out research ranging from basic interdisciplinary research connected with social and humanitarian studies, to applicative and empirical research.
The Institute also has a role in the homologation of the Slovene Education System with education systems in the EU countries. A majority of its research staff were also involved in curricular reform in Slovenia and the preparation of syllabi.
