Journal publishing articles on the economics of transition towards developed market systems. It includes innovative theoretical work, as well as econometric analyses of the process of economic reform. It also includes policy symposia and regular book reviews.
In order to reflect the recent evolutionary changes in the study of transition, The Economics of Transition has broadened its scope to include the analysis of the institutional features that produce (or may prevent) high and durable growth and welfare in the new market economies. The journal encourages submissions that address these issues theoretically and empirically and invites studies of Asian countries such as China and Vietnam, of middle income countries in Latin America and of other emerging market economies.
