DIAL is a public research centre specialized in applied economic and demographic analysis in developing countries. Its research program focuses on three themes:
- formation of inequalities and poverty
- governance, institutions and distribution of resources in the long term and
- aid, international strategies and world inequalities
DIAL’s integrated work method combines applied research, statistical surveys and policy monitoring and evaluation. Dial consists of a partnership between the Institute for Development Research (IRD) and the French Development Agency (AFD). The main location of the IRD Research unit is in Paris with three sub-units in Mali, Senegal and Vietnam. DIAL has a team of around 25 people, including researchers from IRD and other bodies, academics, INSEE statisticians, PhD students and administrative staff.
