Website of the international seminar ‘Demanding Innovation: articulating policies for demand-led research and research capacity building in the South’ which took place in Maastricht on 10-12 October 200.
The seminar brought together 50 researchers, research policymakers and research users from the South, and 35 academics and representatives of donor agencies from the North and intended to:
- highlight the insights gained and lessons learned from donor-initiated, demand-led research capacity building initiatives in the South
- formulate proposals for strengthening demand-led research and capacity building policies in the South
- identify clear objectives and to suggest specific initiatives for improving the South–North policy dialogue
- Comparative study of the impacts of donor-initiated programmes on research capacity in the South
- Research and Technology for Development (RTD): Support to the ACP–EU policy dialogue
