Website of the international seminar ‘Demanding Innovation: articulating policies for demand-led research and research capacity building in the South’ which took place in Maastricht on 10-12 October 200.

The seminar brought together 50 researchers, research policymakers and research users from the South, and 35 academics and representatives of donor agencies from the North and intended to:

  • highlight the insights gained and lessons learned from donor-initiated, demand-led research capacity building initiatives in the South
  • formulate proposals for strengthening demand-led research and capacity building policies in the South
  • identify clear objectives and to suggest specific initiatives for improving the South–North policy dialogue
The seminar brought together the final phases of two projects
  • Comparative study of the impacts of donor-initiated programmes on research capacity in the South
  • Research and Technology for Development (RTD): Support to the ACP–EU policy dialogue
The website includes papers from these studies and information about them. It includes the findings of studies in Ghana, Uganda, Senegal and Vietnam. It also includes reports from the workshops and lists of participants with contact details.
