The Comprehensive Assessment attempts to build and share the knowledge base on water, food and environment. It aims to take stock of the costs and benefits of the past 50 years of water development for agriculture, evaluate current water management challenges and solutions, and identify the best options for the future in order to enable governments, donors and farming communities to make better-quality water decisions over the next 25 years.
The Assessment is an initiative of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) (see separate Eldis entry) convened by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) (see separate Eldis entry), carried out by Future Harvest Centers, FAO, research and implementing agencies, and NGOs globally.
WWW includes virtual work spaces, resource databases, news and events, and publications.
