The McGill – Université de Montreal Centre for International Peace and Security Studies (CIPSS) seeks to foster cutting-edge research, quality graduate training and extensive teaching on issues relating to world peace and security.

CIPSS contributes to the development of scientific knowledge in the field of peace and international security. As a proudly bilingual research center, the Centre makes its members’ expertise available to the government, specialized agencies, and the general public.

Formerly known as the Research Group in International Security (REGIS), a joint programme in security studies between Université de Montréal and McGill University, the Centre was founded by T.V. Paul (McGill) and Michel Fortmann (UdeM) in 1996.
