The Centre for Asian Pacific Studies (CAPS), Lingnan Univeristy is a multidisciplinary research centre studying Asian Pacific affairs. One of the major objectives of the Centre is to address research issues of practical policy importance to government, industry, banking, trade and other service sectors.

The three main research clusters of CAPS are:

  • APEC programme
  • country study programme
  • regional security and international affairs programme

The emphasis of past research activities has been on issues related to China and Hong Kong, but there been increased coverage of other parts of the Asia Pacific region in recent years.

CAPS organizes talks, lectures, seminars and workshops on Asian Pacfic studies. It also runs the International Joint Research Programme which aims to facilitate collaborative research with overseas scholars.

CAPS publish a working paper series and also coordinate with other Institutes within Lingnan University to publish the quarterly newsletter, ‘Lingnan Commentary’. The electronic version of the working papers and the quarterly newsletter can be accessed from the website.
