CDPS is the National Center for Population Studies based at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. The centre’s focus is population dynamics and their effect on human lives, environment, social justice and poverty.

Major research issues addressed are

  • migration including refugee issues and urbanisation
  • fertility
  • mortality
  • environment
  • child labour
  • women’s empowerment
  • reproductive health and family planning
  • ageing, disability and retirement
  • demographic techniques for analysing population problems
The institute has has MA and Ph.D. programs in population related subjects within Nepal and abroad. It also offers short-term training to the government and non-government employees working in population related areas.
