The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) is charged with securing the objectives of economic, financial and price stability with a view to encouraging and promoting the development of the productive resources of Sri Lanka. The CBSL provides a wide range of training programmes for the personnel in the financial sector on Banking, Banking Supervision, Macroeconomics, Financial Sector Development, Management and Information Technology.

The CBSL also has an Economic Research Department that compiles data and conducts economic research for the guidance of the Monetary Board and for the information of the public. It disseminates information on a regular basis on:

  • economic indicators
  • consumer prices
  • monetary policy review
  • economic growth /GDP estimates
