The Center for the Global South was founded in 1992 at American University’s School of International Service (SIS). The Center is a multi-dimensional intellectual resource which examines critical issues affecting the poorer developing countries of the world, increasingly characterised collectively as the South. It is housed in the American University of Washington D.C.
CGS provides a Summer Institute in conjunction with the UN; a large, international conference each year on human development and key human security issue; advanced expertise and resources on Middle East peace and development issues. The website contains further information on events and the summer institute.
