The Center for Local and Regional Governance (CLRG) at the National College of Public Administration and Governance, University of the Philippines conducts research and training on local governance issues.

The Center undertakes research and offers training programs on the following topics: local administration and development, gender and governance, local legislation, governance and leadership, local economic promotion, local legislation, management systems, financial administration, LGU (local government unit)-NGO (non governmental organization) partnership, environmental management and development planning.

In addition to this, CLRG research also covers:

  • policy monitoring and database development
  • devolution and autonomy
  • metropolitanization and urban management
  • regionalization and regional development
  • population development and management
  • rural development
