The Caribbean Centre for Monetary Studies (CCMS) conducts research into monetary, financial and central banking issues of relevance to the Caribbean region. The Centre also undertakes central bank training and aims to provide a regional repository of central bank information.

The four main areas of research of CCMS include:

  • research on leading macroeconomic indicators (temporal disaggregation/ the generation of quarterly GDP data for each of the economies of Caricom)
  • modelling monetary transmission mechanisms in fixed and floating exchange rate regimes in the Caribbean
  • evaluation of the impact of financial regulations on the performance and efficiency of financial institutions in the Caribbean
  • risk budgeting/ management of central bank reserves and investments in emerging capital markets

Other activities of CCMS include hosting annual conferences and seminars to provide a forum for discussions among academics, central bank practitioners, government technocrats and private sector professionals, and publications on monetary and banking issues.

Further details about the Centre’s research, activities and publications are available on the CCMS website. The Centre’s bi-annual ‘Report on the economic performance and convergence of the Caricom region’ can be downloaded from the website. The website also includes a search facility to search the web sites of CCMS and its partner Caribbean Central Banks.
