OECD web resource complimenting published OECD printed reports on the fiscal and policy implications of ageing societies.

Work currently underway includes a series of detailed examinations of these issues for selected country surveys, and thematic reviews, in selected member countries, on improving the prospects for older people in the labour market. All of these studies will contribute to a comprehensive overview paper on fiscal and social implications of ageing in member countries.

Main activities cover:

  • Economic Effects of Ageing – OECD societies are ageing and this will profoundly influence the social and economic environment. To better understand the future challenges, recent work has focussed on the likely fiscal and macroeconomic effects, both across member countries as well as part of the regular OECD Country Surveys
  • Pensions – the Working Party on Private Pensions meets twice a year, and has so far dealt with a variety of policy issues including administrative costs in defined contribution schemes, pension fund governance, investment regulation, and supervision

  • Ageing and Employment Policies: work is taking place on a series of reports devoted to ageing and employment policies in selected OECD countries. Already published: Belgium (in French), Czech Republic, Finland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg (in French), Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (in French), United Kingdom.

Web site provides links to documentation developed throughout the work that has led up to the publication of print reports:
