AWEPON is a network of African women’s organisations that works on gender issues as they relate to economic policy. The organisation seeks to strengthen the capacity of women through research, training and advocacy, to influence the shape of economic policy.
Areas of focus include:
- macroeconomic policies and trade issues
- capacity building
- follow up to the world summit on sustainable development.
AWEPON organises workshops and presentations on gender and trade issues, macro-economics and government policy. Workshop reports and publications can be downloaded from the website. The website also provides information about the networks programmes, including the AWEPON Youth Associates (AYA) programme.
